concept
Sydney’s The Leftovers Collective are a political subversive beast. Mixing social experiments and classic verse the Leftovers are creating new forms of art. We have made 13 fresh works to date with commissions for the Powerhouse | Museum of Contemporary Art | Sydney Opera House | Mardi Gras and now, City of Sydney.
Together with the City of Sydney this September we present Rethink the Radical as part of Sydney’s Disruptive Late Night Library series.
the experiment
With a heavy heart, we would like to invite you for a funeral ceremony for beloved books. The Leftovers wish to have you at the funeral ceremony for your sincerest blessing and thoughts for its peaceful soul. Please mark your presence as we assemble all our near and dear ones to bid books goodbye for the last time.
If you wish to have a personal goodbye a viewing shall take place pre-ceremony. A small wake will be held post service.
The family of books asks that you respectfully wear all black and return any overdue books.
The family asks that together we will contemplate the future of physical books and whether libraries have a place in contemporary society.
